‘One of the greatest natural wonders in the world’ says David Attenborough about the phenomenon that is Horizontal Falls. Take me there we hear you say! Located within the Buccaneer Archipelago, Horizontal Falls must be seen to be believed, as powerful tidal movements rush through twin gorges of the McLarty Range.
The striking turquoise waters of Talbot Bay are home to Horizontal Falls, penned for the way the waterfalls are ‘turned on their side.’ Viewed by either scenic flight or boat, this spectacular phenomenon must be seen to be believed. Mother Nature did her best work here as enormous rapid tidal movements ebb and flow, creating a large volume of water forced through narrow twin gorges creating a variation in ocean level of up to four metres. Hence the creation of a beautiful horizontal waterfall.
