Vietnam Christmas Holidays

Celebrating 25 Years of tour excellence
In Vietnam, the locals love a festival and, despite being a predominately Buddhist country, are extremely fond of Christmas. It is a time of great celebration for the locals who gather together to party and share in the festivities. In the big cities like Hanoi and Saigon, they go all out for Christmas. You’ll find lights and decorations in a kaleidoscope of colours festooning the streets and may catch carols playing in shops and markets and life size nativity scenes set up by local Catholic churches. Restaurants even offer Christmas buffets and menus that may include traditional festive foods like turkey and Christmas pudding. Due to a French colonial past, bûche de Noël is a common gift to give to friends and family at Christmas and you may spot a Santa or two, called Ông già Noel (Christmas old man) here as you’re exploring.

Special Festive Experiences on Christmas in Vietnam

Special Festive Experiences on Christmas in Vietnam

Explore the full length of this spectacular country, from the Mekong Delta in the south all the way up to Hanoi in the north. Along the way, you’ll admire the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An and imperial treasures of Hue, as well as the many highlights of Saigon.

Over Christmas, spend two nights cruising the picture-perfect waters of Halong Bay and its lesser known but equally spectacular twin, Lan Ha Bay. While soaking up the ethereal beauty of your surroundings there will be plenty of festivities too - the champagne will flow on deck as the sun sets on Christmas Eve, followed by a delicious Vietnamese-style festive feast. Then, wake up on Christmas Day to a magical sunrise over the emerald water and spend the day swimming, sunbathing, or kayaking in the tranquil coves of the bay, returning to the ship for a Christmas drinks reception on deck.
