Red River Cruises

The Red River in North Vietnam (locally known as Song Hong) flows from deep in the mountain’s of China’s Yunnan province through North Vietnam. It travels over 1,100km to discharge in the Gulf of Tonkin, marks an ancient trade route and is steeped in local folklore. The river runs through Vietnam’s capital city Hanoi, with the dramatic scenery of Halong Bay in close proximity to the river mouth.

Get to know this legendary river on a ten-night upstream sailing from Halong Bay to Viet in Phu Tho Province. Experience everything the river has to offer, from scenic beauty and local life to the industry that dominates the river banks. Sail deep into Highland Vietnam and discover mountain villages and tribal areas. Voyage as far upstream as your ship will allow before sailing down the rarely-explored Black River.

Along the way you’ll observe and experience many aspects of river life including the birthplace of Vietnam’s famous water puppetry, silk making, water hyacinth weaving, limestone caves, Bat Trang Ceramic Village and much more. Returning to your ship after a day of explorations, you may wish to relax in your stateroom on in one of the public, areas or take part in a range of onboard activities including cooking demonstrations, fruit carving, napkin tying or a ship tour. In the evenings you can sit back and enjoy a cultural performance, a movie night or unwind in the lounge with your favourite tipple.
