You will be met at your Kochi hotel this morning by your driver and transferred to Allepey. The drive to Allepey will take approx. 1.5 hours (53km). Upon arrival at the dock, you will board your houseboat and cruise the backwaters of Kerala. Popularly known as 'kettuvallam', the houseboats are converted from traditional rice barges. You will cruise through the 900km network of waterways that fringe the coast from Alleppey to Nedumudy. Enjoying authentic Keralan food whilst drifting through the quiet canals, relax and witness the life of the people living around the backwater area of Kerala.
Please note: While on the houseboats, electricity can be intermittent. There is a generator onboard, so keep this in mind when charging phones, cameras or other electronic items. The cabins on board are all air conditioned, but the living areas and deck may be cooled with fans. If you are a light sleeper you may wish to bring ear plugs, as the generators may be loud at night.
Enjoy cruising through the backwaters today, watching villagers go about their day by the water's edge and relax in a green paradise. What is truly magical about a houseboat ride is the breath-taking view of the untouched and otherwise inaccessible rural Kerala. An unhurried backwater cruise on a traditional houseboat is the best way to discover Kerala's exceptional scenic beauty.

All of our tours offer a single room supplement, which means you’ll have a room to yourself throughout your chosen tour. Continue the check-out process for the applicable supplement.
On most tours, you can choose our 'Happy to Share' option, which may enable you to share a twin room with other solo customers of the same gender who also request Happy to Share. If a share partner is found, the Single Supplement will be removed from your booking. If a share partner is not found, the Single Supplement will remain and is payable with your final balance.
If you are booking on a Dedicated Solo departure, a single room is already included in the price and there are no additional single supplements to pay.
