Pokhara is situated at the base of Macchapuchere, the Fishtail Mountain, and it is just stunning. It has spectacular scenery, adventure activities, and accommodation and food choices galore and Lakeside Pokhara is an amazing place to recharge your batteries. Stretching along the shore of Phewa Lake, where you can hire a colourful paddle boat, the laid back town offers a tantalising break from the bustle of Kathmandu. You can enjoy fantastic view of the mountains from the lake side, a view you can never tire from.
Pokhara is also home to a booming adventure sports industry with some of the best paragliding available in the world not to mention the white water rafting, and it is of course the gateway to the world-famous treks in and around the Annapurna range and beyond.
Pokhara isn’t famous for its temples in and around the city, although in 2000 a ‘Peace Pagoda’, was completed, in a joint venture with Japan. Situated on a ridge overlooking Phew Lake, it boasts extensive views over the region. It is possible to walk up to the pagoda which leads through forests and past the waters of Devil’s Fall. The setting on top of the ridge is stunning and well worth the effort.
