One of the world’s deepest canyons, Colca drops an incredible 3,270 metres (at its deepest point) and is one of Peru’s most dramatic sights. Located about 4 hours from Arequipa in the depths of the Andes, the canyon is also the centre of a wealth of culture, with communities of pre-Inca people as well as Spanish colonial towns. Colca is also home to the Andean condor, a bird with a 2.5 metre wingspan, which can be most easily spotted gliding through the canyon from the Cruz del Condor viewpoint.
