Fort District

Having been ruled by the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British, it isn’t a surprise that Colombo is a treasure trove of grand old colonial architecture. Now the city’s cosmopolitan central business district, the Fort District was the centre of both the British and the Dutch administrations of Sri Lanka. Many of the grand old buildings built during these times are dotted throughout the area and still in use as government buildings today.
