On the Brazilian border with Argentina and Paraguay, Foz do Iguacu is the gateway to the Brazilian side of the magnificent Iguazu Falls. ‘Foz’ is the Portuguese word for ‘mouth’, as the city sits at the mouth of the Iguacu River as it meets the Parana River – the spot where the rivers join is also where the three countries meet, and is a lovely spot to sit and admire the views. From here, as well as visiting the Brazilian side of Iguazu, it’s easy to pop over the border into Argentina to visit the other side too.
